Everyone should have Anti-Virus installed. Everyone knows you need an Anti-Virus solution on your computer. Some people use freeware solutions, while others opt for commercial software to keep the viruses, trojans, and other malware off of their systems.

Using the EICAR test pattern, AV Tester decrypts the test pattern in memory and attempts to write a file to the same folder where AV Tester is installed. If your Anti-Virus solution is watching, it will almost immediately go off, proving it is functioning properly.
