Software Description:
UserGate Proxy & Firewall 5.0 is a complex yet surprisingly easy to use solution designed to distribute Internet Access across an enterprise LAN, provide complete antivirus control, detect and prevent all external intrusions, as well as perform centralized management of all users' Internet activities, monitor real-time downloads and control traffic.
UserGate enables you to fully control your employees' website browsing habits and monitor downloads in real-time. Research by IDC reports that up to 40% of employee internet activity is non-work related. UserGate server can help boost employee productivity by giving you total control over what your employees can browse and what files they can download in real-time. Complete Internet access control is achieved through web categorization and web filtering techniques. BrightCloud tools are included, which is a 100% human-reviewed site categorization database. This gives you total control over what sites your users can browse and lets you block access to websites by particular categories, such as adult, online gaming, personal email, P2P and travel websites. UserGate also lets you monitor user downloads in real-time, and lets you block specific file-types such as mp3, mov, mpeg, etc. UserGate also scans all files for viruses, spyware and malware using multiple anti-virus engines. This significantly decreases the time for new virus signatures, thereby reducing the possibility of infection. Furthermore, UserGate lowers the risk of social engineering by blocking access to phishing websites through the use of an auto-updatable database of phishing URLs. UserGate simplifies network administration by providing centralized network management. This solution is very efficient for setting up Internet access for small and medium size networks, as well as ISP services and home-based businesses. UserGate is easily managed, does not require special training or qualifications and can be set up within minutes.

Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
Network Address Translation (NAT) support – an advanced technology for connecting multiple computers to the Internet using one IP address.
Web caching – allows the storing of files from the Internet in a cache, which is available for all users. Caching reduces Internet connection loads and saves money in bandwidth usage.
Internet Traffic Analysis
Accurate Traffic Calculation for each user (including traffic through servers using SMTP authorization). Calculating and viewing user Internet statistics per day and/or per site for any time interval. User Internet statistics for the current month can be viewed through any HTTP connection.
The built-in Billing System, which performs automatic calculations of Internet expenses for each user based on time and/or traffic volume can be set up for different rates for specific users or for groups of users, switchable rates depending on the time of day, day of the week or website address.
Statistics Reporting System can automatically e-mail users their personal Internet statistics, and can bill for specified time periods.
Report Generator has the capability of exporting stats to MS Excel.
User-specific access management
Application Firewall integrated module that enables the management of Internet-based applications, including the setting of restrictions on application usage per version/type/protocol and/or name.
Various User Authorization Methods support include: by IP address, IP and MAC address, IP and MAC ticket, by username and password, by Windows authorization, and by Active Directory authorization.
Upstream Proxy Connection support with an authorization option.

DHCP support
Dynamic addressing in UserGate server simplifies network administration because UserGate keeps track of IP addresses rather than requiring the administrator to manage the task. This means that a new computer can be added to a network without the hassle of manually assigning it a unique IP address.

Administration, alerts and statistics
Real-time Connection Monitoring allows the viewing of active user IP addresses, usernames, exact volume of sent and received traffic and lists of URLs visited;
Bandwidth Manager can set limits on Internet connection speeds for each user or protocol.
o Bandwidth Manager is intended for traffic speed limiting for directions Server ↔ Internet and Local Network ↔ Internet.
o If a packet matches more than one limiting rule, then Bandwidth Manager will apply only the first suitable rule.
o Bandwidth Manager does not support Dial-Up connections.
Scheduler provides a convenient running of the following tasks: launching external applications, automatic opening or closing of dial-up connections, e-mailing statistics to users, etc.
Flexible set of rules for managing network activities of a single user or a group of users, including:
o Restrictions on operating times, amount of incoming/outgoing traffic per day and/or month or the amount of time spent online per day and/or month;.
o Internet content filtering restricting user access to resources not related to work.
o Individual restrictions for connection speeds and traffic volumes. If a user's traffic limit is exceeded, his/her Internet access will be automatically closed.
o Lists of forbidden or allowed domain names, IP addresses, parts of URLs, etc.
o Range of IP addresses allowed to be accessed.
o Hourly Schedules of user Internet access.
o Highly effective Banner Ad Filter.
Remote Administration allows network administrators to work remotely and to be more mobile;
Internet Security
Built-In Firewall protects your local area network from hacker attacks and other undesirable intrusions from the Internet.
Port mapping ties a port of a local Ethernet interface to a specific port of the remote host. Port mapping is used for bank-client applications, games and other software that require data exchange with a specified IP address.
Antivirus Gateway Protection
Gateway antivirus. You can use Panda Antivirus or Kaspersky, both embedded into Usergate or use any other antivirus software. UserGate checks SMTP and POP3 protocols (e-mail), HTTP (internet) and FTP.
